What is the AI Act?
The world's first AI law, introduced in three steps
The EU AI Act has been in force since August 2024 and is being rolled out step by step. The key obligations now apply — including for organisations that merely use AI. At its core the AI Act is an extension of the GDPR: it adds a new chapter underneath it, with the same demand for demonstrability.
Prohibited AI + AI literacy
Unacceptable AI (such as social scoring) is banned. Everyone working with AI must demonstrably know what is and is not allowed.
General-purpose AI
Rules for broad AI models such as those behind ChatGPT — and therefore also for the tools built on top of them.
High-risk AI + transparency
The strictest requirements now apply: for AI in recruitment, assessment, access to services and more. Fines run up to €35 million or 7% of turnover.

Coming to RealCob: the AI Act check
RealCob is being extended with an AI Act module, using the same approach as for GDPR and NIS2: clear yes/no questions, a register of your AI applications with risk classification, and the documents you must be able to show.

About the AI Act scan
Does the AI Act also apply to small businesses?
Yes. The heaviest obligations sit with makers of high-risk AI, but organisations that merely use AI have duties too: AI literacy for employees, transparency towards customers and careful use. Company size is not an exemption.
Is this scan really free?
Yes. No account, no credit card, no obligations. You see your result immediately on screen.
Is the result an official assessment?
No, it is a first indication. The full AI Act check is coming as a module in the RealCob software; it is currently in development.
What happens to my answers?
The scan itself runs entirely in your browser. Only if you sign up for the AI Act module afterwards do we send your name, email address and score to RealCob, in line with our privacy policy.
